Florent Malouda believes that the severity of Manchester United's defeat by Liverpool

Chelseas Florent Malouda Manchester United Are Not InvincibleFlorent Malouda believes that the severity of Manchester United's defeat by Liverpool will give confidence to teams who have to face the frontrunners in the remaining Premier League games. "It is not easy in any way to beat Manchester United, but [Liverpool's win] shows that it is possible," said Malouda.

"We know they have a really strong team, strong squad, and they can win anything. But this is their first defeat of the season at Old Trafford so it will mean a lot for everybody."

Following United's 4-1 loss to the Reds, Malouda believes that Sir Alex Ferguson's men could be susceptible to more dropped points down the track.

United are a really strong team, and when you see the performance of Liverpool it was a really high intensity game. Everyone knows that to beat this team you have to produce that kind of performance," he said. "The title race depends on how the defeat affects United's results, but we still have to do our job and just hope that they drop points."

Michael Essien and Ricardo Carvalho both made recent comebacks to Chelsea's list of fit players, but Malouda insisted that the Blues have more to thank than return of injured stars for their recent run of form. "We changed manager and we changed our habits. We keep working hard every day in training. The way we start the game, the way we try to push on and find a result, this has all changed," he said.

"Sometimes, when things are tight, we have to push harder in games. Some things you can't explain but you have to reach a level of confidence, or a level of performance, and it wasn't enough before. "It wasn't just about the manager either, it was about us.

We all have to take responsibility and the whole team is committed now to our targets this season. "We can see that it is still possible. When we didn't get positive results in the past, our confidence was low. "That has all changed now, our hopes are higher than ever before."
